Priene, near west coast of Turkey

Two views of the ruins of a temple devoted to the Goddess Demeter (literally "the mother") and her daughter, Persephone. Smaller and older than the nearby temple of the more war-supporting Athena, this place celebrated the mother-daughter bond, and has, to this day, a special calm and quiet quality. Fluorished circa 350 BCE.
