Castlerigg, Cumbria, England

Castlerigg is one of the earliest stone circles, dating from about 3200 BCE.

Mysterious moving white lights have been seen here; some think it is due to the movement of earth and stone in fault lines. This is not uncommon at stone circles, and could provide an explanation for their siting.

Castlerigg is one of the most-often visited stone circles in Britain; it is beautiful and calm in feeling, with a touch sweetness.
